A Hull To Hold The Waves At Bay considers the subject of mental health and how we manage it.
This body of work contemplates the approaches we have learned to manage our mental health on a day to day basis.
The work began as an exercise in self exploration, to help me discuss my mental health issues more openly and to find better approaches to managing it. It has evolved into an ongoing conversation about mental health and a positive resource for ways to find respite from our symptoms. Inevitably my own experiences are intertwined amongst the stories of the subjects.
The series presents a culmination of the momentary calm, the warmth and the fleeting clarity afforded by these coping strategies juxtaposed with the difficulties and frustrations encountered along the way.
